In February of 2004, yet another of music's greats was lost...Bob
Mayo
Many, many years ago I was privileged to work with Bob on my first
demos
recorded at his home studio. We first met when he was working
with Peter Frampton
and
Foreigner at Wizard Studios where I was an Engineer. He was a
kind and insightful
man
who took some of his valuable time to help me on my way. I fondly
remember one
song
we were recording...well OVER producing is more like it. LOL!
He
said to me...
"You
know, the kitchen sink is not all its cracked up to be. A
lesson to be learned...
every sound, every instrument, every song, has its place and you
should be able to
hear
them." Bob had an amazing ability to create what I called "The
Ring" in his
music, a sound and a space for him whenever he played...you just
knew it was him.
We
lost track of each other over the years as so often happens when
lives go their ways.
Still I was deeply, deeply saddened at hearing the news of his
passing.
So
as a small thank you for what you gave to me and what you taught me
Bob,
this
is for you..."Ring
On Mr. Mayo, Ring On"
